The Medical Directorate swallows the Mary Wright Unit

In June Mary Wright will be taken over by the Directorate of Medicine.

So its goodbye to Nursing services and Helen Date and hello to all you medical people! Management currently report that there are no plans for Mary Wright to loose Orthopaedic or Surgical referrals but watch this space, how long will it be that medicine can no longer 'foot' the bill for the orthopaedic cases or let urology take the p**s.

Nurse Practitioners Improve Their Telephone Skills and Their Patience

"Bleep, Bleep" said the nurse practitioner when paged for the sixtennth time in under a minute by switch board. As of June Nurse Practioners are taking referrals from GPs for Medicine. GPs are happy because the referrals are accepted with no question, the on call team is happy because they are no longer inundated with phone calls and nurse practitioners are happy because they have to be!
